The Classroom is Talking Too

Environment, Design & the Space Every Child Deserves

Behavior isn't always the child. Often it's the room. This course teaches you to read your classroom as a communication system — and redesign what it's saying, one Monday morning at a time.

About this Course

This course is built around one question: what is this room saying to every child in it?
Because the behaviors you spend your days managing — the meltdowns, the bottlenecks, the child who won't stay at circle — are very often the room speaking through the children. When you can hear what your classroom is saying, you can redesign what it says next.
You'll walk your own room through six audits — movement, sensory, walls, transitions, settling spaces, and materials. Each one takes ten minutes. Each one names one small change you can try Monday morning. By the end, you'll have three named actions, a Master Audit of your room, and a different relationship with the space you spend every day inside.
The supports that make a room work for the children who need the most are the same supports every child benefits from. Not accommodations. Inclusive design.

What you will learn by the end of the course

EXPLAIN how the classroom environment communicates with children through six audit areas: movement, sensory, walls, transitions, settling spaces, and materials.

APPLY the ten-minute audit protocol to one classroom area, producing five written observations and one named change.

ANALYZE potential changes using the Impact/Effort Matrix to identify three quick wins for their specific classroom.

DESIGN a Monday Morning Action Plan outlining three environment changes, the child first affected, and the observable signal confirming each change works.
